about

In '84-'85, the band was kind of a revolving door for band members, as well as band names. It's kind of fuzzy, but here we go;

Muddy left to start his own band, Exobiota, John Cartledge came in on bass, then left, and came back. We had Larry Wahl on bass for a SHORT while, then Dennis on bass. The band names went from Runaway Train, to Hanging Tree, and then finally, Medicine Man.

Rick Moreno came in as lead guitar, and the band really started to develop a definite sound and direction. Rob's writing skills grew with more revealing and human characters in his songs/storylines. One big influence that emerged permanently at this point was Neil Young & Crazy Horse. Rick introduced The Allman Brother's/Frank Zappa influences.

We recorded a few times at Rusty's Studio. There is a muffled sound quality to our work at Rusty's, along with plenty of tambourine. But regardless, the band was growing and developing.
